Coloring bounties available

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 14, 2009, 12:32 PM

OK, so I was not able to drum up any interest in my coloring contest... except for Juice XII, who gave us this excellent entry.

I could not have hoped for better with 100 entries, and he's fully earned his prize. Thanks, again Juice XII, I hope we can work together again.

That being said, I proudly announce an ongoing contest of sorts. Anyone who notes me with a coloring of any of my drawings will be eligable to receive a prize (or "bounty") from me. Prizes include:

1.) A three month subscription to dA.
2.) A one month subscription.
3.) A free single person commision from me.
4.) A free headshot commission from me.

Show me your work on my work, and based on what I think (effort taken and quality of work are both considerations) I'll award one of the above mentioned prizes.

So, happy hunting!

It's a contest!

That's right, I've finally finished the lines to my featured Marvel vs. Capcom drawing. With that, I've started advertising a contest for the next 60 days, (ending 12/6) whereby you can win a 1-year subscription to dA. 3 month subs and free commissions are available to the runners up.

Feel free to note me with any questions you have. I'm very excited to see what you all can do.

One month in.

I know that it's hard to tell because I posted the Marvel vs. Capcom image well into it being worked on... but I like how far it's been one month, and I'm pretty close to done on the lines.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Final Revision!

Tue Aug 11, 2009, 3:41 AM
After having completed the lines for the last iteration of this project.... it struck me how much of a cluster-fuck it is. I know that people have been saying that from the first version, but I suppose that the gravity of that observation, the full reality had not sunk in. I guess I'm thick-skulled, or my pride was overpowering my reason.

In either case... the realization of the inherent truth of these statements lead to me reevaluating the drawing that I've been working on for three years now. Based on that, I tried to remake the work as a single piece, and not a collection of 9 or 18 or however many individual parts that could be subdivided again into 7-10 individual characters put together in a collage format.

I also decided that since it's going to take me some months yet to get this hashed out, I should post a live WIP. Obviously, I've gotten a lot further than than day 1 with the first image, but for the next few months, the featured image will grow every day until it's completion.

The WIP image is 25% the size of the full work, for everyone's sake.

Preview images 3 & 4

Tue Jun 2, 2009, 12:20 PM
Still chugging away, and there are two major developments.

1. I've complete all of the foreground lineart. Preview image 4 has everything except the border (I'm trying to fit an "Onslaught & Abyss" idea into the bordering) and the word marks. There are also some inter-sectional lines that need to be added.

2. Having had ZERO (OK One) contacts about coloring the work, I've decided to at least try doing it myself. Granted, I was probably going to try it myself in any case, but it would have been nice to see someone already talented give it a shot. My thanks go out to =shipain for submitting his version of the preview image 1.

Preview image 3 will be constantly update to show my daily progress in coloring, and when I feel that's done to my satisfactions, my hope is that coloring the remaining 8 images (plus background) will be a much quicker and higher quality process.
